Colors

You know you had a splendid weekend when it is Wednesday and your fingernails and hair are both princess pink and your earwax Shrek like green and big obnoxious dinosaur purple, despite multiple showers.

(Yes, I started writing this on Wednesday.)

Over sharing? Probably. but I apologize and promise it gets better...and less gross.

The in your face wake up and live out loud theme to my life lately has been... colors. From the childrens museum downtown, to Sookie's first ride in a mall car stroller, to being splattered in pink, orange, purple, yellow and green by loved ones and strangers alike at the Festival of Colors.

Little Miss S had an absolute blast with cousin Kenley at the Children's Museum. I was proud to just sit back and watch her take everything in. Her sense of wonder is contagious. I'm working on a separate post about this adventure, because it deserves it.

I am an 80's child, so naturally I will dress my daughter in random ridiculously bright colors. :)

The previously mentioned Festival of Colors last weekend? Nothing short of splendid, carefree fun. A jolt of color on the outside of my body to enhance positive thoughts up to their greatest potential and drown out the anger and pain of black and white.

I don't know what I'm doing in this photo, but I thought it was hilarious.

From the Utah Krishnas Website:

In India, Holi announces the arrival of spring and the passing of winter. The festival breathes an atmosphere of social merriment. People bury their hatchets with a warm embrace and throw their worries to the wind. Every nook and corner presents a colorful sight. Young and old alike are covered with colors (red, green, yellow, blue, black and silver). People in small groups are seen singing, dancing and throwing colors on each other.

Perhaps my favorite photo of all time of my cousin D-rock.

The atmosphere was jubilant. I was grateful to be there. Just be. Everyone just excited, dancing, celebrating being alive. It was truly incredible. Something I will never forget.

These three make my heart happy; like, frolicking through a field of wildflowers while spinning and singing, happy.

We've never looked better. Ha!

Sookie was safe away from all the colors with Glamma and Poppa. I desperately want to take her next year, but she still might be a little young. We will see. When we arrived to pick her up, we decided to finally watch Tangled, all five of us. (It feels so good to say that.) I'm strict when it comes to Sookie's television viewing, but wanted to indulge for the night. We popped some popcorn and let her try a nibble for the very first time. I sat on the opposite couch, just watching her sitting on Daddy's lap; cupping popcorn in her competent hands and tossing it into her soft sweet mouth. So nonchalantly, like "hey, I can do this. No big deal. I do this all the time even though this is the first time. Yep. Just hanging out with Daddy, eating popcorn and watching a movie".

I thought Tangled was adorable. I heart Mandy Moore. I still can't picture a regular day in her marriage with Ryan Adams. But that is another post entirely. I also thought the fake mom was the perfect example of why women need to stop bullying each other through manipulation.

Colors.
Love 'em.
Doing my best to live in bright hues.

So I live the life in pink
