wicker chair nostalgia

there is a special place in my heart for vintage items that belonged to family members. there are stories passed down through the ages, tales of strong and heroic women in my genealogy, ladies who faced tragedy with the grace of a goddess. i'm honored to share genes with these ethereal gals.  yes, the truth is it is just stuff; but i have to choke back sweet tears at the thought of sookie owning things that her great great grandmother once used and loved.

which is why i was tickled pink when my grandpa asked me if i would like some wicker chairs that were my great grandmother's.

they are not in the best of shape, but with some tender care, the loveliness that is spray paint, some whimsical fabric, and one super amazing cousin; i was able to transform them into exactly what i envisioned when i first saw them!

BEFORE:

not so fabulous, right?

we spray painted.

we pinned fabric.

we conquered.

AFTER:

massive thanks to the wonderful kenley who pinned the fabric like a pro and did so much of the work while i chased little miss s around. thank you kenley, you are the best!

honestly, can i say i surprised myself with how darling they turned out? they make our front porch so cozy and welcoming, with a touch of whimsy.

happy friday!
go make something pretty!
xo.

  12. You did a wonderful job! But you don't just have "wicker chairs"...you have ROCKING wicker chairs! And with springs no less!! Lucky girl! And it warms my old heart to hear someone say they want to keep the memories alive! Wish more young ones felt that way. Good for you for all of it!
