what we wore (utah utes fan edition)

it is Wednesday again and I'm linking up to the pleated poppy!

first, a little background information.

we love the utes.

way back when we started dating, i quickly showed rory the light and now he loves them as fiercely as i do.

there are emotional ties behind my passionate fandom; i had my kidney transplant at that hospital back in 1994, and i graduated from the college with my bachelor of science degree in human development and family studies with a child life emphasis.

two BIG life happenings and both at the same college/hospital/campus. i think it is a given we are such massive fans. ;)

this is what we wore for game day last weekend, even though we didn't attend the actual game. i own utes shirts with logos, but sometimes i like to just add a splash of red to celebrate my fandom. i don't wear red often because it clashed with my skin tone and hair, but this red skirt is quickly becoming one of my favorites; i get that pop of color but away from my face so i feel less self conscious.

tahnie:
sunglasses - old navy
shirt - target
skirt - old navy
leggings - target
sandals - aerosoles
headband - la luce
(the mustard yellow color of this headband is PERFECT for fall!)

sookie:
skull barrette - etsy shop no longer in business
dress - red zone (in sandy, ut)
shoes - silver glitter toms

If you are a big college football fan, what do you like to wear on game day and who is your team?

xo.

what we wore (& dreams realized)

tonight as sookie leaned in to kiss me, ever so innocently and gently, it came in a rush of bricks how much i use to daydream about moments such as this very one i was currently living out.

i was preparing some notes for a cystinosis adult care excellence initiative conference call (i am beyond honored to be in this impeccable group of women who want better care and better lives for ALL of us living with this disease & if you've never heard of it? please take a few minutes to click over and educate yourself; it would mean the world to me), the two loves of my life were plotting an epic adventure to target while mommy was busy, and it felt good, precious even, to watch this scenario play out before my very eyes, in my very own home, in my very own life.

who would have thought; the life i went so out there for, so bold, dared to dream...is mine?
it is crazy, humbling, miraculous.

& that is my endless lesson in these days post-pregnancy. after being so angry and frustrated with my body for months now; i had an epiphany yesterday (well, perhaps it is a never ending one), it might very well take me five years to recover from my pregnancy with little miss s.

and that is okay.

actually it is more than just okay...
it is fabulous because it already is,
it is reality.
my body is a soldier with everything i have put it through
& i will celebrate that
exercise extreme patience with it
and love the heck out of every tiny cell
and what it has done for me.

i know i have said it before, but it is time for me to really start
living this notion.

that's it.
that is my new motto.

What We Wore Wednesday

I'm linking up to What I Wore Wednesday, & as always, Sookie's wardrobe is so much more interesting than mine. I try not to take myself seriously and take goofy photos. It is always nerve wracking for me to put these out there, because I have a momma's body now, and sit and nitpick everything that is wrong with it. However, I'm learning to embrace all of it and What I Wore Wednesday helps me to do that.

Either something you are coveting or something you already own.
I'm looking for some inspiration. :)

Happy Wednesday!
I hope you are all having a great week!

What We Wore Wednesday (brought to you by Target and Old Navy)

Okay, this post isn't really brought to you by Target and Old Navy, but doing these wiww posts makes me realize I could just upload photos and say, "Uh, bought most of this stuff from Target and Old Navy."

I know there have been a lot too many photos of me around here lately and trust me, that is not because I adore taking pictures of myself. I'm definitely not comfortable with it, but it is an ever constant exercise in self acceptance and gaining back confidence nearly a year after giving birth. So, I just wanted to say thank you for going on this journey with me.

Additionally, I wanted to say I usually don't do lower half shots because I always wear dark jeans. That is definitely something I need to change up and have more fun with. I wear cute shoes though, I have a weakness for shoes. I should take photos of them next time.
